Square Dance Nebraska - Ideas

Welcome to Your First Night
of Square Dancing

The first thing we would like to cover is mistakes. DO NOT WORRY OR BE EMBARRASSED! All square dancers have made their share of mistakes and are still making them. Following is some guidelines:

Listen to the instructor carefully. Do not talk while he is instructing. If you have an immediate question, raise your hand and ask the instructor for help.

If you still feel you don't know the call then ask questions during break. The instructor, or any club member, will be more than happy to answer any of your questions and even help you with a walk-thru.

Since we cover a number of calls in an evening it is important not to miss class. If you do need to miss a night be sure to check with the instructor before class. If it is possible, we can help walk you through the calls, if not then the instructor should be made aware of your absence and give extra cues for the first tip. During breaks you should make an effort to catch up on what you have missed. If you miss three nights in a row it is almost impossible to catch up.

REMEMBER THAT THIS IS A FUN ACTIVITY AND MISTAKES WHILE LEARNING ARE A NATURAL PART OF LEARNING ANY NEW SKILL.
